Récemment, lors d’une brocante, un vendeur fort sympathique à qui je viens d’acheter quelques galettes me propose de m’offrir un disque dans le bac à 1 euro.
Ayant déjà écumé le bac et n’ayant rien trouvé d’autre, je m’y replonge sans trop y croire. Je décide de repartir avec un maxi 45 tours dont la face A est la “chanson originale du film publicitaire français Adidas” de 1983 que tout le monde connaît si bien, Sky Jumper par Janny Logan. Inconnu au bataillon.
Je laisse à nos lecteurs le soin de trouver le spot publicitaire en question, sans grand intérêt à mon avis, en revanche j’ai eu une excellente surprise en écoutant la face B, Something You Hide. Un beat solide, une basse qui fait écho à celle de Billie Jean, des arrangements et un lead qui rappellent la scène post disco et new-wave New-Yorkaise du début des années 1980, en font un excellent morceau à passer en début de set. Je n’ai malheureusement pu trouver aucune info croustillante sur Janny Logan, ce disque étant son unique sortie répertoriée.

Having already checked it thoroughly, I start searching again in disbelief. I decide to leave with a 12″ whose A side is the “original song from the French Adidas 1983 advert” that everyone knows so well, Sky Jumper by Janny Logan. Never seen or heard before. I will let our readers find the said advert, not really worth mentioning here, however I was pleasantly surprised when I listened to the B side, Something You Hide. A solid beat, a bass line that echoes back to Billie Jean, arrangements and a lead that remind us of the early 1980s post disco and new-wave scene in New-York, make it an excellent set starter. Unfortunately I couldn’t find any gossip about Janny Logan, this release being the only one listed.
